Komodo Maple: Elite Hardwood Performance

What Makes Komodo Maple Different?

Chandler's Komodo Maple represents the pinnacle of premium wood bat construction. Selected from the finest maple stock for maximum density, superior hardness, and extraordinary durability, Komodo Maple is purpose-built for hitters who refuse to settle for ordinary. The result is a bat that transfers more energy at the moment of contact — propelling the ball harder and farther off the barrel with every swing.

Compared to standard maple bats, Komodo Maple delivers:

  • Higher wood density — more mass behind each swing
  • Superior surface hardness — longer-lasting barrel performance
  • Explosive energy transfer — maximum pop at contact
  • Elite craftsmanship — a finish that demands attention on and off the field

If you're choosing between maple bats, Komodo Maple is for the hitter who wants the absolute best.

CB52 Model Design: Built for Power Hitters

End-Loaded Feel That Drives the Ball

The CB52 is engineered with power hitters in mind. With weight distribution shifted toward the barrel, the end-loaded feel rewards hitters who can generate leverage and bat speed through the zone — translating into more momentum at contact and greater distance on well-struck balls. This isn't a bat for contact hitters. The CB52 is built for players who step in looking to do damage.

Medium Barrel, Medium Taper — Maximum Sweet Spot Access

The CB52's medium barrel provides a generous sweet spot while maintaining the swing weight and maneuverability that power hitters need. The medium barrel taper creates a smooth, natural transition from the handle to the barrel — delivering a comfortable feel through the hitting zone and helping hitters stay through the ball at contact. Paired with the flared knob, the CB52 gives the bottom hand a secure platform that promotes a powerful, controlled swing path.

Black/Magma Surge Colorway

The Black Gloss Handle and Magma Surge Gloss Barrel combine for a visually striking bat that turns heads in the dugout and at the plate. The bold contrast finish isn't just about looks — the high-gloss surface adds additional hardness to both the handle and barrel, contributing to the CB52's long-lasting durability. The Black Chandler Logo completes the aesthetic with clean, confident branding that lets your game do the talking.

Ink Dot Tested for Safety and Durability

Why Every Chandler Bat Is Ink Dot Tested

Every Chandler bat — including the CB52 Komodo Maple — undergoes mandatory Ink Dot testing to verify optimal slope of grain before it ever leaves the shop. The Ink Dot test was established as a response to the alarming rate of multi-piece bat breakages in Major League Baseball beginning in 2008. Bats with poor slope of grain — where the wood grain runs at a steep angle rather than parallel to the bat — are far more likely to break apart dangerously during play, posing a real risk to players and spectators.

Here's how it works: after the bat is sanded down, a drop of black ink is placed on the handle. As the ink absorbs into the wood, it bleeds along the grain. If it bleeds straight — parallel to the bat — the slope of grain is sound, and the bat is strong, safe, and durable. If it bleeds at an angle, the bat doesn't make the cut. Chandler manufactures every bat to MLB Ink Dot testing standards so that hitters at every level get the same safety and quality assurance as the pros.

Frequently Asked Questions — Chandler CB52 Komodo Maple

What makes the CB52 end-loaded?

The CB52 is designed with its weight distribution shifted toward the barrel end of the bat. This creates additional momentum at the point of contact, rewarding power hitters who can generate leverage and bat speed through the hitting zone. End-loaded bats are best suited for hitters who prioritize raw power over bat speed.

What is Komodo Maple and why is it better?

Komodo Maple is Chandler's premium hardwood grade, selected for superior wood density, hardness, and energy transfer at contact. Compared to standard maple bats, Komodo Maple offers higher mass concentration, greater durability, and more explosive pop off the barrel — making it the preferred choice for elite-level wood bat hitters.

What does the flared knob do for my swing?

A flared knob widens at the base of the handle, creating a natural stop for the bottom hand. This provides improved grip security throughout the swing, reduces the risk of the bat slipping at contact, and allows hitters to generate more whip and torque through the hitting zone. Many professional hitters prefer flared knobs for this exact reason.

What is the difference between a medium and long barrel taper?

A medium barrel taper creates a gradual, smooth transition from the handle to the barrel. This provides a comfortable feel through the contact zone and gives hitters a natural, connected swing path. A long barrel taper produces a larger barrel surface and extended sweet spot but can feel more distinct between the handle and barrel sections. The CB52's medium taper balances power and feel.

What warranty does the Chandler CB52 Komodo Maple include?

The Chandler CB52 Komodo Maple comes backed by a 4-month warranty. If your bat breaks within the warranty period, Chandler will replace it per their warranty terms and conditions. This warranty reflects Chandler's confidence in the durability and craftsmanship of every bat they produce.

Is the CB52 a good bat for power hitters?

Yes — the CB52 is purpose-built for power hitters. Its end-loaded weight distribution, medium barrel, and Komodo Maple construction combine to maximize energy transfer at contact. Hitters who can drive through the zone with bat speed will find the CB52 delivers exceptional distance and authority on well-struck balls.

What leagues is the Chandler CB52 approved for?

The Chandler CB52 Komodo Maple is a wood baseball bat approved for use in wood bat leagues, high school wood bat programs, collegiate wood bat leagues, and professional leagues that permit wood bats. Always confirm your specific league's approved bat regulations before purchasing.

What is the Magma Surge finish on the barrel?

Magma Surge is one of Chandler's bold, signature high-gloss barrel colorways. The Magma Surge Gloss Barrel paired with the Black Gloss Handle creates a striking visual contrast that sets the CB52 apart in any dugout. Beyond aesthetics, the gloss finish adds a layer of surface hardness to the barrel, contributing to the bat's overall durability and performance.
