How to Measure a Baseball Glove for Your Player 🧤⚾

Finding the right baseball glove size is key to helping your player perform their best on the field. Here’s a quick guide on how to measure a glove and ensure the perfect fit!

🔹 How Are Baseball Gloves Measured?
Glove sizes are measured in inches from the tip of the index finger down to the heel of the glove (bottom of the palm). You’ll often find this measurement etched into the thumb or pinky of the glove.

🔹 How to Determine the Right Fit
For youth players, a general rule is to measure the circumference of their palm to get an idea of the glove size they’ll need. However, the best way to find the right fit is to have them try it on!

✔️ A proper fit should be snug but not too tight
✔️ The glove should be stiff but flexible enough to open and close
✔️ For younger players, err on the smaller side for better control

🔹 Position-Specific Gloves
As players advance, they may need a glove tailored to their position:
🏆 Infield – Smaller gloves with shallow pockets for quick transfers
🏆 Outfield – Longer gloves with deep pockets for catching fly balls
🏆 Pitcher – Closed web gloves to hide grip from batters
🏆 First Base – Long, wide mitts for catching and scooping throws
🏆 Catcher – Measured differently (by circumference) to provide padding and control
